History

Jalpaiguri district comprises western Dooars and the major part of the eastern Morang and this area.Jalpaiguri is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal was formed on 1 January 1869. The simplicity , natural beauty of this district touches the hearts and minds of all who have been here. The city is the home to the Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court and the Jalpaiguri District Court is Known as Nawabbari Court and 2 Subdivisions Malbazar and New Jalpaiguri Railway Court.
At present in the sadar sub-Division 14 Courts are functioning viz. the Court of the Ld. Principal District & Sessions Judge along with four Additional District & Sessions Judges, two Additional District & Session Judges (Fast Track Court), one Civil Judge (Senior Division) cum Astt. Sessions Judge, one Chief Judicial Magistrate, three Courts Judicial Magistrates and two Civil Judge (Jr. Division).
Similarly at Malbazar Sub-divisional court complex 1 Court is functioning viz. The Ld. Court of one Additional District & Sessions Judge.
At New Jalpaiguri, Railway Court complex 1 Court is functioning i.e the Court of one Railway Magistrate.
